The IPRA

This October, the Philippines observes National Indigenous Peoples Month with the theme “Mga Katutubo at Katutubong Dunong: Pahalagahan, Pangalagaan, at Parangalan” (Valuing, Nurturing, and Honoring Indigenous Peoples and Indigenous Knowledge).

This month we’re celebrating the 27th anniversary of Indigenous Peoples Rights Act (IPRA), A legislation that protects the rights of indigenous peoples. We’re celebrating this because it’s the one who are protecting the culture of philippines, respect for nature and offering lessons to us and to keep protecting our culture.

This theme emphasizes the importance of being thankful to our culture and honoring the contributes of indigenous peoples in our society. It’s not just moral but signifying also a step to a better future.
